Family portrait shooting

What a lovely family to meet and photograph here in Christchurch, Beckenham. The parents are originally from Singapore and they are now living here in Christchurch. We met at Beckenham Park which is a lovely backdrop for a portrait shooting. I was looking for a natural shot of the little girl Chloe with one of her parents in the hope to add to our successful book “did you know…” and I got lucky.:) Thank you!

And here is the email when they had a look at the photos:

The photographs are awesome and beautifully taken!!! We felt so blessed and happy when we look at the CD.   We are so impressed with your professionalism to capture our moments, smiles and naturally side.  There are no other words to better described how we feel when we look at the pictures.

I have also uploaded the pix on my Facebook and received numerous “wow” and “beautiful photos” comments from all my family and friends!  Thank you so much once again!

Regards,

Marie

The Great Kiwi Beer Festival in Christchurch

It is always fun to do sth completely different in the busy wedding season – and The Great Kiwi Beer Festival in Christchurch was a lot of fun to capture in 1,5h the atmosphere of this event. It was on for the first time and I would say – not for the last time!

Ellie and Declan’s magical wedding

There are magical weddings – I can tell you that. And this one was one of them. So much detail in everything from the dress to the table decoration, the heli flight and the little ankle jewelry…. and Ellie was such a beautiful bride – outside and inside….

Ellie and Declan contacted me from Perth-Australia, where they live in the moment and they told me that everything for the wedding (decoration, etc) was arranged for them by her mum in Dunedin – what a bliss! We met via skype and soon it was obvious that they wanted me to capture the “Whole Story” of their wedding starting with the bridal preparations to the first dance. A long day full of emotions and beauty and laughter and … LOVE.

What a wonderful feedback of Ellie when she saw the photos for the first time in the online gallery:

‎”They are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would like to say more but I better get back to work.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.”

Thank you too.:) And yes, more photos to come. pinky promise.

Sonia & Trent’s wedding

I was really looking forward to this wedding in Wanaka with Sonia and Trent. They got married with a small number of guests at the wonderful boutique Tin Tub Lodge (inside – as the wind was a bit too rough for a whole ceremony) and it was quite a special event as they have been together for a long time. Their families were so happy and joyful and you could feel the love everywhere.

We then went for photos to the beach at Bremner Bay, Sonia’s favourite spot since she was a child and although the wind was blowing even more – we had so much fun! Afterwards the Station Park was a bliss with no wind and gorgeous trees…. The stunning old Ford made his way to Cardrona Hotel where the guests were waiting to welcome them. The speeches of the families were really heart-felt and hilarious at the same time and it was wonderful to observe two families becoming one.

They also booked me to arrange a “guest book” for them with professional photographs being taken of all their guests behind a golden frame. A wonderful memory….

And here is their response to their photos:

“Stephanie – Trent and I have looked over the photos and we are more than happy with them. They have really captured the day well, including the fun relaxed nature of the day.”

In Memoriam – Margie

When a friend of Margie contacted me last year and asked if I could take some special photos of her friend Margie and her daughter Helen, I thought “What a nice idea to give a portrait shooting to a dear friend.” I then was told the whole story – that Margie had cancer and had not a long time to live and therefore the friends of Margie wanted to give her and her daughter Nova a unique set of memories …. The photo shooting was fabulous and we had so much fun especially as Margie wanted to dress up in a ballett costume at the Lake. Nova, her daughter is a beautiful and bright button and they both were so much in love.

While I am sad to tell you that Margie has died last week, I cannot forget her beautiful smile and the warmth she showed to her daughter all the time. She reminds me of the beauty in life and of changes and that we all should live our lives fully and full of laughter and love.

I wish you all a week full of love, laughter and dancing –  and Margie, I am sure you are dancing right now with the angels and fairies and are around us …

Love, Stephanie

Hannah and Luke’s wedding

It all started that the new puppy dog ran away in the morning of the wedding, so everyone was looking for the new family member…. to cut the story short: she was found in time before the ceremony but before that we called her name all the time at every location we stopped for some photos…:)

Hannah and Luke’s wedding was such a beautiful and relaxed event (well, after 11 years and 11 days and 2 daughters later) this couple knew why they wanted to get married. The bridal party was one of the funniest and spontaneous I have worked with so far and is reflected in the bridal party shots.

Hannah and Luke, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your magical river wedding (they arrived in canoes) and all the laughter  – I truly enjoyed these moments with you and your friends and family.

And here is there feedback when they saw the photos in the web gallery:

They’re all awesome! Thanks so much, we’ve just had fun sitting down and going through them.
Can’t wait to see the paper copies.
You’re a legend.
Love
Hannah and Luke

Joan – the artist

When I heard that Joan Taylor (Auckland artist) is going to publish a book about her life and work I was excited to hear that she wanted a photo of herself for the book. We arranged a photo shooting when I was anyhow up in Auckland just after Christmas and it was so easy and relaxed to take some photos of her in the garden…

It is always very interesting for me to meet new people and feel their “energy” and capture that in the shots:

Allie and Steve’s December wedding

After a Friday full of rain and cold weather, Saturday arrived with sun and warmth for Allie’s and Steve’s wedding at edgewater just before Christmas. The guests came from all over the world and celebrated this beautiful wedding where Allie has put so much work into every detail beginning from the invitation up to the decoration of the reception… A day full of memories and here are only some of them:

Gorgeous Emily

Emily is one of my favourite models who is also appearing in the book “did you know…”. She has this adorable personality and the cheekiness you need as a child. I started photographing her and her parents when she was 6 months old and just did another family photo shooting with her now with 2,5 years. All I want to show you is how beautiful it is to capture these moments of growth and love and to realize in the end that they do change a lot and at the same time – not at all …
